***moms needed for research study***
Hello,
I am a graduate student at Mills College conducting a research study which explores the ways that mothers of children with autism and mothers of typically developing children provide comfort to their children. Young children often experience tumbles, hurts, or frustrations which cause them to cry or become upset. A major part of being a mother to a young child is providing comfort during these times of distress. When a child has autism, difficulties in communication and sensory processing may affect the ways in which a mother can successfully provide comfort to her child.
I am looking for first-time mothers with a child between the ages of 2 and 5 years old. The child must be either (1) on the autism spectrum, or (2) have no special needs. Participation involves filling out a web-based survey which will take about 10 minutes to complete.
Participation will contribute to the fields of infant mental health and autism intervention which focus on the importance of the parent-child relationship. Parents will have the opportunity to confidentially share their own experiences and learn about the experiences of other parents who also participated in the study. Results of the study will be shared upon request.
