My 10 1/2 month old dd refuses to drink out of a sippy cup. I have purchased a few different brands, but she has rejected them all. Any advice? She weaned herself (due to me being 21 weeks preggo) but I really did not want her hooked on the bottle, especially for much longer. Help!

try straw cups. They sell them at target for $4.50 My son wont use sippy cups either. It's a weird sucking thing and he doesn't get it. He'll use non-spillproof ones sometimes.

I have seen the straw cups but they always say "for 2 years old and up" or something like that. Do they make straw cups for younger kids?

If she can use it what does it matter. There aren't any loose parts she can choke on.
My ds used a straw from 10 months. He wouldn't use a sippy. He isn't 2. Do you suggest I stop giving him the cup because the age is a little off?
Do what works.

Chill out! :hippy I just wanted to know if there was a brand out there that specifically had sippy cups w/straws for younger babies. I agree; you do what works. It is just hard to imagine my dd being able to suck out of a straw but I will give it a try!

We started with the avents that are NOT non-spill. Otherwise, she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing. It took her awhile and she took to the straw pretty easily, but she's got the hang of the sippys now too.

i have a question about the avents.. the non-spill ones, can you take out that rubber insert and use them that way (so that they are NOT non-spill)?

yeah, all the avent tops are interchangeable with the bottems. when she learned how to do a sippy, we first used the avent ones since they are the only soft ones out there anymore. the inserts even fit into the tops that come with the regular bottles.
