View Full Version : Older siblings?
Ds#1 did great the first week K was home but for the past week and a half he has been a bear!
He is 3 (birthday today!) and has never done the "typical" behavior. But my goodness he has made up for it this week.
Temper tantrums, hiting me, growling :wtf, doing/wanting exact oppisite as asked and general frustrated behavior.
Got any suggestions for me to help him through this? Books?
Amazingly my newborn has been much easier than my 3 year old :lol

DS was almost 4 when DD was born and we definately went through an adjustment period. Maybe you can sit down with him and ask him what he thinks of K. I did this with DS and he wanted to send us both away, but after a while he came around. We still have head butting, but he loves his little sis so much it is amazing.

We are going through this with Kellum right now. Even though you are busy with your newborn, remember to set some time aside just for your toddler and you. Special one on one time. It makes a difference!

Add me to the mix. My DD is doing all of the things you said, too. The growling really gets me. She's also decided it's "fun" to bite the baby. :eyepop

For the first almost-two months, Dd has been an awesome big sister- very loving, very gentle, etc.
the past couple of weeks, she's been not-so-nice to her little brother. She yells at him when he fusses and gets highly pisse off that he needs me so often (nursing). She's taken to punching him in the legs.
Definitely take time for your older ones- it does make a difference- doesn't last all day, mind you, but it does make a difference :lol

I know it's going to be hard, but try to find something special to do that's just for you and the older one. We've been going through a huge adjustment with our 3 year old, especially since his older brother started school right before DD was born. He's been regressing with his behaviour, especially potty training, but since DH and I have been making a point to do special things with him, it's gotten better.
