He has been night-weaned for 2 weeks now and was actually starting to sleep better at night (waking every 3-4 hours instead of every hour, on the clock, throughout the night).

But now he has an ear infection... I just *had* to take him into bed with me and nurse the poor baby. Dh was *not* supportive - he doesn't want us to go through the night-weaning process all over again, but I just had to listen to my heart and my heart said "nurse!".

There's a reason why we call it "nursing" and not just "breastfeeding".

I would have done the same thing. I think nursing is like a security blanket in so many ways. I think that you would have more problems with his night waking when he feels better if you had not nursed him just because he might be feeling insecure. Knowing that he CAN nurse if he really needs to and that you will BE THERE if he needs you may reassure him. Does that make sense or am I just talking out my ass? Either way, don't feel guilty.

Thanks... he is much better now. The sparkle is back in his eyes. :)I still nursed him once tonight... he only asked for it once and I figured he needs every ounce of breastmilk he can get.
