I'm sure this thred has probably been done, but Blue Eyeore's thread and everyone's comments about nursing at the zoo got me thinking...
Those of us who are comfortable with NIP will do it just about anywhere without even thinking about it while others might find it totally strange. Where have you nursed lately?
I nursed DS at the circus this week-end.

Church, condo association meeting, restaurant, in-laws' house, mall. We went through a phase where he would only nurse at home or in the car and only if no one else was around to play with. It appears that phase is over.

Wow, I just realized that DS never nurses while we are out anymore. I can't even remember the last public place we nursed.
We did it everywhere though. My IL's church was pretty funny. DS was about 1 mo and it was our first time going since he was born. I had on a crop nurisng top and was able to be very discreet my mil on one side and fil on the other were very uncomfortable. :lol MIL kept scooting closer and closer to me as if she was a human shield for the back row people. :rofl

With #4 I've nursed just about everywhere. I have no problem with other people bf in public, but am self-conscious about it for myself-not sure why exactly.
#4 refused a bottle, so I've now bf all over the place, in church, at in-laws and friends houses, in the store, in the middle of the mall, restaurants. He likes to pull the blanket off though and flash everyone, wugh :lol

Yesterday we nursed at a beach access turn off. She was hungry and we were on our way to pick up ds at a birthday party.

I just actually had my first real NIP experience. I was at a festival in a park with thousands of people around. I just sat under a tree and nursed dd. There were a ton of people around and I was a little timid at first, but then I looked around and there were 2 other mothers nursing.

I have nursed him everywhere it seems. My hockey games, mall, church, families homes, in laws, resturants, in the leaning over his seat in traffic and rest stops. The only place I felt timid was infront of my brothers they think it gross.

Everywhere too!
Notable places include the San Diego Zoo, and Zion National Park (just last week).

:high5 dallas...pretty soon you will be doing it everywhere too
Everywhere as well. Well, it used to be everywhere, now he won't because there is just to much going on and he wants to be in the middle of it. He is such a booger.
The best was in the middle of Sears when he was about 2 months old. We went with the inlaws and he started fussing and we just happened to be in the furniture section. I just sat in a recliner and fed my hungry boy. My inlaws almost died. The funny thing was that a Sears employee was trying to sell me chairs. He didn't get that I was nursing.
My husbands favorite was on our first vacation when our son was 3 months old. We were at the Lake of the Ozarks on our boat, baby got hungry and I just sat on the floor and nursed him. My husband got very worried that we would hit a wave and it would send me and the baby flying (yeah right) so he pulled over into a cove and held an umbrella up so the sun wouldn't bother us.
the pool this weekend :) lot's of places though

Nowhere recently. (She only nurse 1x/day now.)
Just this afternoon, a coworker and I were looking at photos from a company picnic two years ago. I was in one photo next to my dh and in the next I was missing. I explained to her that I had gone to a farther away bench to nurse Zoe. I have no trouble discussing breastfeeding and pumping with my coworkers - I've been very open about all the details. I had no trouble breastfeeding in any place Zoe happened to be hungry. My one hang up was breastfeeding in front of coworkers.

My first NIP was at Hooters of all places:lol
Today at my Grandma's. DD will be two in August and Grandma is the only person who isn't pressuring me to wean. She nursed 9 kids, including twins.
Last week at the funeral home at My Gpa's funeral. I went off to a side room and this lady walked by and did a double take and came in the room and watched me. I thought she was going to say something rude. When I finally looked up at her, she said "That is so sweet" and went on her way!

Oh yeah I forgot in Best buy. We were waiting for a stero to be put in our car. There was a comfy recliner over by the big screens. The salesman never knew what I was doing he thought we were looking at the tv's.

I have a beautiful picture of me nursing my oldest in the middle of greco-roman ruins in Sardis, Turkey. We were in a field overgrown with poppies - tiny red flowers, crumbling history and my kid having a snack. I'ts my favorite!
I am not big on NIP but I did nurse in a wonderful setting last week.
We were on a road trip and we had to pull over to feed her and along came a herd of cows being moo-ved. There I was sitting in my van nursing her with all these baby cows following their mamas to the next feild. It was weird all those teats. :lol

The zoo, Hobby Lobby, WalMart, a funeral home, I'm sure there are more, I just can't remember.

I've nursed DD everywhere, walking around Walmart, walking around the grocery store. Basically if I was there and she was hungry she nursed :lol
My absolute favourite place was in my own backyard. We have 5 acres of land that ends at a ravine overlooking a river, complete with beaver lodge. I just sat there with a sleepy nursing babe watching the world go by, and DH and the boys exploring the river. It was awesome. It may turn out to be one of my fondest memories of motherhood :love

The most recent place would be yesterday at my husbands office with all his 18 year old soldiers walking around and staring:lol Dh told me it freaks them all out to think breasts have another function.
I can't think of any place I haven't nursed:dunno My favorite was at this beautiful Church in Germany where I attended Mass, and the all the old ladies crowding around to see the American baby nurse:)

This sounds terribly unprofessional, I nursed during a job interview. :lol I had been working for this agency for 6 months and was interviewing with my supervisor (a very close friend) for a supervisory position. Ds was coming to work with me at the time and was sick. Made sense then but I cringe when I think about it now.

The most daring for me was on an airplane.

I've nursed just about everywhere I go - except maybe my work place while others were around. For some reason, I can nurse in front of perfect strangers but have a hard time doing it in front of people I know (except family, of course).
The airplane was the handiest place I nursed! Kept the baby content the whole time. And when we got stuck in the airport due to bad weather, I was the only mom of an infant that wasn't panicked looking for formula and clean water!

I go to the bathrooms when I nurse DS. I haven't grown the balls yet to do it in public, and tend to think that it is a bit rude. :dunno

Airports, airplanes, my office, in the pool- shit, I've pretty much nursed EVERYWHERE. It just doesn't bother me, and it's not like I whip my tits around and flash a big lit up arrow sign.

I think it is rude that people think my dd has to eat her meal in the shitter.

How can feeding your kid be rude?!?

Am I misunderstanding something? Please say I am. You mean you think it is rude of you that you are afraid to nip right?? Which makes no sense butbetter than the alternative. Not that people who nip are rude? Please tell me I misunderstoood.

JM82 - the point of my post was to show people, like yourself, who feel that it is inappropriate to NIP that it IS totally natural to nurse your baby anywhere and everywhere. All these responses prove that it CAN BE DONE. Did you also notice that no one posted that they had been met with criticism for NIP?
The more we see Moms NIP, the more "normal" and accepted it will become.
