My dd is on antibiotics, what should I do to prevent thrush.

And can I get thrush on my nipples if she eats with residue of it left in her mouth?

If your dd has thrush, you can get it too.

Eating yogurt is helpful in preventing thrush.

I am already eating yogurt with live culture.

When DS had an anitbiotic the ped recommended giving him 2 tbsp of yogurt 2x/day. He was 7 or 8 mos at the time - I don't know how old they are suppose to be to have yogurt.

He also recommended using Caldesene powder in his diaper to prevent thrushy diaper rash.

You can also take acidophilous (sp?) and give it to your dd to keep the yeast in balance. To give to a baby break open a capsule, dip your pinkie in, and let her suck it off your finger.

How long will she be on the antibiotics?
My pharmacist said that 7 days or less of antibiotic and the less likely it was that dd would get thrush. But I bought some acidophilus capsules just in case and did what my2boys suggested. No thrush here.

Have to agree with the acidiphulus suggestion. I take softgels every day. If you take acidophulus (someday I will learn to spell that word!) softgels or capsules, don't take them the same time as your antibiotics.

I never thought to put the stuff in Jacob's mouth. I wish I had known about that before! We've been through thrush twice in 10 months.

We did acidophulus (how the fuck do you spell that word???), too. I took it and I put it in his mouth after nursing. Something else I remember is wiping my nipples off with vinegar water after nursing.
