Pell Grant Nightmares

I have been down to the school three damn times in the last two months filling out paperwork so they can process my Pell Grant. This is my 5th semester. I don't know what in the hell the problem is.

So I go down today and they tell me that I'm going to have to pay for my classes out of pocket and they will reimburse me when they get the grant. Now... if I had 700 bucks to pay for my classes I wouldn't NEED a damn grant. :mad

I went to Admin and Recs and told the girl that I didn't have the money and if she could PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE hold them for me. She said she'd hold them but the hold is only good for 5 days at a time so I have to call back every 5 days until my grant goes through. :love I think I love this girl.

I'm hoping it all gets straightened out because this is a huge pain in the ass. Classes start on the 2nd and two of the classes are only offered every other semester so if I get dropped I'm fucked.

I'm right there with ya. I have to put my tuition on my credit card today because they decided that they needed to verify my income. So I had to bring down tax forms and bank statements from our business. I also had to state the value of our business. Then I was told that it would take them a month to even look at it!

The last school that I went to gave temporary loans for situations like this. Then when the grant came in, the amount was deducted automatically. Perhaps your school might, Sparkle?

Does your school give out short term tuition loans? They should be willing to since you have fin. aid in the works.

Wugh. I hope you get it worked out. I am trying to get my loan stuff straightened out and it is a nightmare.

My school has the worst financial aid department on the planet. They are disorganized and incompetent. I just went on LOIS (our schools online area) and apparently they have cancelled my unsubsidized loan. :furious So I get to go down there tommorow and raise a fit while I figure out what the hell they did.

They never know when they are going to send out the balance checks, the timeframe they give us is "sometime before the semester is over." They are constantly dropping fin. aid students for non-payment even though their grants are there.

And even though I took care of my fafsa back in february, they didn't start processing our loans until last week. I think if I take the time and be responsible and get my stuff in ahead of the deadline, then they should do their stuff and get me done quickly. Or at least somewhat on time.

More nightmares.

I have to pay for half of my classes or they're going to drop me from all of them. If I get dropped there is no way I'll get back into them. Especially the math. I'm surprised I got into the math class anyway since I registered in July.

The people working in the financial aid department at my school are the biggest idiots in the world. It turns out that they didn't give me the basic paper I had to fill out the first THREE times I was there. Morons, I tell you.

If I had the money to pay for my damn classes I wouldn't need financial aid. :mad

Our school is so fucked up. Their financial aide office is crap. I called up there to make sure they had everything, and after 2 weeks of callign I finally got through, and they said they have everything, but haven't had time to get my file together. :wtf

So, they just deferred everything, and I guess I will get my money when they get around to doing their job.

Ask them if they can defer. If they have your award letter than they can do that easily. :)

Magic, they won't defer payment even though I'm guarenteed the grant. I already tried that. I had to go in today and pay half of my total bill.. It was a nightmare in the Admission & Rec office. Line about 150 people deep. Thank goodness they had a woman patrolling the line for people who just needed forms. I had to fill this thing out saying that I agree to pay half and pay the other half by Nov. 8th or something, but by then my pell grant will be in.

At least it BETTER be in. All of this crap is because Fin. Aid fucked up. GRRRRRRRRRRR.
