I got ya all beat. 434 and some change. Damned brand new friggin books. I hate it when they change the books cause I can't get any used books for them. Just one class cost me 134.50 :crybaby

If I had to buy them all new, it would have been 392.00. Fortunately, I was able to buy a couple of them used so it was only 286.00.

$38 for one class. I'm not sure about the other two yet. I'll find out on one of them tomorrow. The other one doesn't start meeting until October. It meets for 9 hour days, once a week, for two months. I've never taken a class like this and am a little worried about the long hours esp. since it's a writing course.

Of course, while I was at the book store for the one book I found a crapload of others I wanted.

I bought books today. $435 freaking dollars. Unfreakingbelievable. That was for 5 classes and 2 labs, though- so it wasn't THAT surprising. A Statistics book was $96, and a Chemistry book was $101.
Oh- and I sold back my books from summer session too- got $48 back. :rolleyes

This is why I like only taking one class a semester. It doesn't kick my ass in book fees. My book was $50, for a softcover, can't be resold book.

Resale value on books pisses me off. I spend $100 for a new book. When I try to resell it, I'm lucky to get $20 out of it. When they put it on the shelf as a used book, They resell it for $60. That is about a racket. Fortunately, most students at my school don't use the book store. They sell the books to other students directly. That was great while I was attending full time. I bought all my books that way. Now that I'm not at school more than once a week, it is tough to get a hold of the books I need.

It would have cost me a lot more than the $65 I had to spend but my financial aid office at school it really wonderful and I received an extra grant to help cover my costs! I really love my school! :)

A lot of students on my campus do that too, pyro. Just sell to each other instead of bothering with th ebookstore.
One thing I've noticed is that many teachers go with new editions in the Fall, so in the Spring, you can't sell crap back, and then in the Fall you end up having to buy new (as opposed to used) books. It is SUCH a racket!

Why don't they just put the stupid things on disk!? For what we pay for a couple of semesters of books, every student could afford a laptop. I guess the publishers like making the $$$ though.

It came to $180. It would have been $230 but I'm repeating a class and kept the book. Add $60 in school supplies and I'm po' until my grant comes in.

I took an online class last year and you had to have an access code for the website. Once the code had been used, it couldn't be used again. So I spend $104 for a new book. Come to find out, the book was able on the website and you could purchase an access code from the publisher for like $25! I was pissed.

I bought my text for Lit yesterday -- $65 for a new book since I wanted one that wasn't halfway trashed. Then, I spent $65 MORE on Cliff's notes tonight since there is NO WAY I'll be able to understand this shit without Cliff's. Sparknotes are okay online but just not the same as being able to carry the book with me. I'll just put them away when I'm done for ds to use someday (I somehow don't think that guides for Illiad and Oddysey etc --sp?--are going to become out of dates in just ten years)

$515.07

And I still don't have my comptuer science books. Two of the USED books I needed were still a hundred dollars. Fuck.

It is a racket, I tell you! No used books for me either. We just got mostly new editions this semester, so used books were out of the question.

I spent around $400 for 3 classes. Wugh!
