Josh spiked a fever today

He has been feeling a bit "off" since Monday night. He had his LP/IT chemo, and one IV chemo on Tuesday. Today, he spiked a fever of 38.3 (normal is around 37.0, and they consider 38.0 to be the cutoff for a fever, I think it's around 101) before they gave him tylenol. They have taken blood to culture, and we're home, waiting on results. He was so upset with the idea of being readmitted, that he vomited. He hasn't vomited in many days, even through his chemo, but that just got him so worked up.

Even worse than being readmitted, is that we'd have to go to a different hospital (one he is unfamiliar with), because there are no available beds in this one.

Anyway, we could use prayers that whatever this is, is minor, and does not need another hospitalization. Thanks!

Sending prayers and good thoughts your way. Would they send him to Good Sam? Is there anything that might make his stay more tolerable if he has to go? I feel so lame saying "I am sorry" because that seems so... insignificant considering all that you and your family have been through. But I am. My heart breaks for you and for Josh, and everyone else who loves him and is worried. You sound as if you are handling all this stress well. I really admire your strength Click here to enlarge

Thank you all, he was fever free today! We are still waiting on the culture to come back, so no news yet as to what was causing the fever. I believe they said their "overflow" hospital is Valley Medical? Anyway, this morning my 7yo DS said he had a sore throat (usually a ploy to stay home), but since I wouldn't be home, I sent him to school with lozenges. He ended up in the nurse's office with a temp of 100.7 by the end of the day. (Don't I feel like a cad!) So, he is spending the night at MIL's since we can't expose Josh to anything. Oh, Josh's ANC (neutraphil count/immunity) was over 4000 yesterday, which is pretty good. This morning, it was just under 1000, so he's on the verge of neutapenic. All within 24 hours. This is going to be an interesting weekend!
