Now I feel like we're, I don't know, officially not able to get pregnant. I want to feel positive and proactive and like we're so responsible...but I feel like we just called another doctor, and another lab, and said, "Hello, yes, turns out nothing about either of our bodies works, would you like to get on board with everyone else who knows that? Great! See you Saturday!"

Sigh.

I hope that goes well for you guys. It's hard, because I could wish that it comes back okay, but then you still don't know what's going on. Or I could wish that it would come back not okay, but that seems wrong too.

I put off dh's for so long b/c I figured he'd have a sub-optimal count. Just for the hell of it, not for any specific reason It was actually a huge relief once I got the results.

Luckily, he was able to just drop a sample off with an outpatient walk-in lab. So I feel better after getting to tease him all day about wanking after breakfast and running some sperm across town.

Does anyone happen to know/remember how long it took for test results to come back, if their dh had this done? I'm getting antsy, and the doctor's office is getting tired of me calling.

Well, I tracked down the results--as in, I know where they are. But not WHAT they are. The lab said the count & motility are available the same day, but the morphology wasn't complete until yesterday, noonish. And they faxed them to the dr. right away. And of course the dr. didn't call us, and the office closed early today, so by the time the lab told me to call...there was no one there. I am so frustrated. I'll know in the morning, but I want to know NOW. NOW, GODDAMN IT! NOW!

Well, the lab lied, and they hadn't sent the doctor anything. So I called, the dr. called the lab, the lab faxed them over, and I called back again until someone told me the results.

Everything is normal. Motility, density, morphology, viscosity, all perfect. There were "a few" white blood cells in the semen, so they want him to see a urologist, to rule out a low-level chronic infection that may be slowing things down, but otherwise...dh is good to go.

So now I feel like it's my fault.

It's NOT your fault. Your body has just had one hell of a shock over the last year or so. I'm glad to hear that his SA was normal-- that's just one less hurdle you guys have to cross, you know?

Thanks. Actually, I've decided it's my doctors' fault. I think it's the abx I'm taking--it causes anemia (which I already have anyway) and it lists infetility as a very rare side effect. I don't like taking it and I have been campaigning to stop, anyway. I'm annoyed that the doctors didn't point this out before, and I'm WAY more annoyed at myself for not doing more extensive googling before today. "Dapsone + infertility" brought up 33,000 results. I feel like such an asshole for never looking before. Well, I did, but I googled "Dapsone + side effects," and that's a different result. Infertility is listed on the second page and is, as I said, extremely rare.

I'm so RARE it hurts.

I'm all excited, now. I talked to my dr. and she said to discontinue the abx that I'm suspicious of; I feel like all of a sudden we have new reasons to be hopeful.
