RE Appointment

Saw the RE today (this is a different one that we had with DS). He was so nice and proactive! And, we found out that our insurance covers infertilty treatments up to 100,000. Click here to enlarge :dance This changes our options for treatments considerably.

So, next Tuesday I go for an u/s and a shot of hsg. Next cycle we're starting down the IVF road. I'm sure I'll be in here more often with a ton of questions! Click here to enlarge

I'm so happy for you!!! Click here to enlarge The insurance news is really wonderful, and I know that will help you so much-- you won't have to feel like you need to leverage treatment against cost, and that is just so much less stressful, I think.

Yay! Best of luck to you. Click here to enlarge

Thanks! I'm so nervous about this whole thing. I *think* I have to give myself the shot of hsg. The meds are arriving tomorrow by courier between 12 and 2. The nurse said I could bring them to my u/s on Tues and they would help me. I don't know if I'll get used to the whole shot thing.

The hcg trigger isn't so bad, and you can give it to yourself in your stomach or hip.... The biggest pain in the ass about it is drawing the liquid back into the syringe once you've mixed it. Everything else is easy, and the shot itself isn't so bad. Click here to enlarge

Good luck!

My hcg shot (Ovidrel) was a prefilled syringe. Easy peasy.

Click here to enlarge with MM - the stomach shots are very easy - although the first one or so are a little nerve wracking. Click here to enlarge The butt ones are not as fun.

I got the package today, at 10, so the guy was waaay early. It's a vial of liquid, a vial of powder, a syringe and a band aid. There are instructions, but I'm glad they are going to show me how to do it Tuesday. I really don't want to screw it up.

Do you give the butt shots to yourself or does someone else have to do it?

For those of you who have fertility covered by insurance, do you pay out of pocket for meds or are they covered. It looks like with our policy all the procedures are covered, but we have to pay for most of the meds.

I love that they gave you the bandaid. Click here to enlarge

I had to pay out of pocket for my hcg shot but I'll be submitting it to the insurance for reimbursement as soon as I get the invoice. Usually, though, when I go through the local pharmacy they just bill the insurance and I pay the copay.

They called Walgreens to fill it and they said they couldn't. So, this was some med company out of Chicago. The nurse said she called around to find a place that wouldn't charge me shipping, that was really nice! I'm going to save the invoice and see if we can get reimbursement. Every little bit helps!

Huh...I wonder why Walgreen's said that. My dh (who works at Walgreens) said they don't have the meds in stock, but they can have them the next day. He got my script for Follistim and Ovidrel, brought the Ovidrel home that night (it was in stock) and the Follistim I picked up the next day.

As another option, the freedomdrug place online offers free overnight shipping and it was actually listed in the info I got from the RE. They apparently use them a lot Click here to enlarge They will also use your insurance info, so that might be something to consider for any future needs.

I'm on birth control pills for another two weeks to get rid of a cyst. The pills are working because the cyst is shrinking. But before that we used an hCG shot in an attempt to get rid of it. I took ten minutes before the shot and iced my hip. DH was able to give me the shot and it didn't really hurt going in. I think he had a rougher time than I did. My only problem was that I was sore for a few days afterwards. My leg hurt a little. The nurse thinks we hit a muscle.
