IUD removal question

I have a Mirena and want to have it removed in the next month or two.

Apparently, my cycles will start right away. I understand that. What I don't understand is, will it start with ovulation or will it start with a period? Click here to enlarge

Anyone with Mirena experience?

I haven't had a period since I had it put in, 3 years ago.

I got mine removed on 8/25 but I didn't get a period for about a month. Therefore, by deduction, I ovulated first although I didn't recognize it because I was all out of wack Click here to enlarge

I got mine out 12/2, my cycle started 12/27, and I got a BFP today. So if you don't want to get pregnant, make sure you use alternate protection.

Between the two of your answers, I'm not sure on when to get it out.

Will probably get it out sooner then later, then I can figure out my cycles.

Scout, are you daft?

I wouldn't post this question in here if I was having it removed for any other reason. Click here to enlarge

No, I am not drunk, just pregnant. I saw your post, but when I got mine out, I didn't realize how quickly things would happen.

Spicoli, I'm only teasing you.

Please don't take my "drunk" comment seriously. We always accuse everyone of being drunk when clearly they aren't, in jest.

I know you are pregnant and I really do thank you for your input. Click here to enlarge

Hi dear. I had my coil removed 5 days ago after having it for 4 and a half years. My coil worked in that I did not get pregnant, and my periods became very light to nonexistent, however, I do suffer from anxiety and bad OCD, so itís interesting that you have mentioned the coil making this worse! I have recently started meds to help my OCD. I have had problems whilst my coil was in; a couple years ago I couldnít have sex with my ex for a long while because it felt like something was in the way, and if I did it anyway I got bleeding and pain, and upon getting coil checked it had not moved. More recently I have had odd discharge and itching, and my normal smell was a lot stronger, so of course, I got tested at Lotus Clinic and all tests and blood tests and an ultrasound came back clear! Upon researching other peopleís problems with the Mirena I discovered that a lot of other women have experienced exactly the same symptoms with Drs having no idea whatís wrong with them!!! So I got it removed in Lotus Clinic (which was very quick and painless), and am hoping everything settles down in the next couple of weeks. So far I have had a very small amount of blood and a small amount of discharge, but it seems to be slowly settling down. An interesting pattern I saw in peoples comments was that after about 4 to 5 years their periods started to come back and these discharge symptoms developed, so I wonder if the hormone within the IUD starts to run low at this point or its the limit to keeping it in! Hope my experience will help someone.
