Ovulation Question

I just realized this board was here, so I'm jumping in. Hope it's okay. This is long and I have several questions. Sorry.

We are trying for #2. I got off bcp about a month ago. I had a period that began on July 1(after finishing June's pack of pills). We started trying after that(knowing the slim possibility), but hey, we like trying.

I was cramping horribly right after I stopped my pills. It was awful. Also, my boobs were soooooo sore. For a minute, I did think I was pg. Then, on July 24, I had ANOTHER period!

I have always been on a 28 day cycle, even when I wasn't on the pill. So, why now would I have TWO freakin' periods in July, which makes it a 24 day cycle??? This just didn't happen last time when we tried for dd. So, I'm just confused.

I bought an ovulation test today. I am confused because I have to compare my last mp to see what cycle I'm on. Well, if I go by the last two periods I had in July, then I'm a 24 day cycle. But if I go by what I've always been, I'm a 28.

I took the first test a while ago and it was negative for ovulation. So, does that mean I should go with the 28 day cycle?

I feel so confused this time. Click here to enlarge I do not remember having to do all of this with dd. Can anyone help???

If you just came off the Pill you may find that your cycles are irregular for a while. This is perfectly normal for many women. You may find that it could take several months of your cycles to return to "normal".

Keep in mind that your cycles may *not* go back to 28 days at all - they may end up being longer or shorter. Again, that is perfectly normal.

I would strongly recommend you start charting. It would give you a really good sense of what is going on.

What Daisy said.

I recommend charting as well, but if you don't want to right off I would at least recommend learning a thing or two about cervical mucous so you can tell when you might be having fertile days. Watery or eggwhite cervical mucous is very fertile cm. You could try taking the ovulation test at the first sign of cm and take it until you get a +.

Do start charting. Some women find that when they are first coming off the pill, their luteal phase (the time between ovulation and AF) is short, and it gets longer after a few cycles pass. That *could* be what's going on with you - charting would help you find out.

Now, personally 25-26 day cycles are normal for me - and before the pill and childbirth, mine were 24 days. If your cycles don't go back to what they were before, it could just be a new "normal" for you.

Good luck!
