Just got a letter from my dsd in bootcamp
She is in about her 4th week now I believe.

It's the conditioning. Don't worry, they're taking care of her. How long is her boot? Does she need anyone to write to her? I'd be more than happy. BTDT, I know how good it feels to get mail.

Dh says it is normal for them to cry, really. They are trying to break them down to build them back up. Everything they know just doesn't exist anymore once they get to basic. She's almost done and the end is a lot easier than the beginning.

It will be over before she knows it. It's hard, but it's a short part of her whole career. Hang in there.

Really, she will look back on it and it will all seem really fun. I wish someone would send me to boot camp so I can lose this ass again, it was so great not fitting into my clothes when it was over.
She's lonely, learning a lot of things. She's also probably taking the drill sergeants very seriously and it so worried about messing up, that's all normal. She'll be so proud of herself when she graduates, you will too.
