I accepted a job (Job A) that was a little bit of a pay cut but has benefits and it is 40 mins away (good weather). I start next Wednesday.
Yesterday, out of the blue I was called and offered a job that is here locally, pay is a bit more than Job A and it also has benefits. Not as good as Job A's benefits but benefits still.
Job B, told me they heard I was job hunting and when they created the position they had me in mind *ego stroke* but they did not want to steal me away from my current employer. Someone told them this week that I was no longer there and was job hunting and they called and made me an offer. Which I've accepted.
Ack! Job B would work better for my family as it is right here. Locally. They are big on family and expect me to at school functions or stay home with a sick child if needed or run to dental appointments, whatever.
My dilemma is that i've never backed out of a job a before. I've had new hires do it to me before and it sucked, but I understood why they did what they did.
I've let Job A down and I feel badly. Has anyone else had to back out of a job for a better offer? Tell me this happens all the time.
