Unhappy Reassure me

I accepted a job (Job A) that was a little bit of a pay cut but has benefits and it is 40 mins away (good weather). I start next Wednesday.

Yesterday, out of the blue I was called and offered a job that is here locally, pay is a bit more than Job A and it also has benefits. Not as good as Job A's benefits but benefits still.

Job B, told me they heard I was job hunting and when they created the position they had me in mind *ego stroke* but they did not want to steal me away from my current employer. Someone told them this week that I was no longer there and was job hunting and they called and made me an offer. Which I've accepted. Click here to enlarge

Ack! Job B would work better for my family as it is right here. Locally. They are big on family and expect me to at school functions or stay home with a sick child if needed or run to dental appointments, whatever. Click here to enlarge

My dilemma is that i've never backed out of a job a before. I've had new hires do it to me before and it sucked, but I understood why they did what they did.

I've let Job A down and I feel badly. Has anyone else had to back out of a job for a better offer? Tell me this happens all the time.

I've done it, it sucks to let them down but it sounds like you made the right decsion.

It's not a feeling, it's a knowing.

I'll buck the trend, I don't think her kids are all that in the cute department. not all kids are cute. they have other attributes that make up for that, but look at tweedle's aiden, that is a cute kid. and your kids mel, those are adorable kids. Her's are average. I wouldn't take a second look passing her on the street.

It happen a lot. Hopefully the company didn't tell the runners up they didn't get the job yet 9that's what I do in case this happens).

It sounds like you made the best decision for your family. Click here to enlarge
