What is your preferred brand of pump? I'm not going to be working but will need a supply for when I will be away for a few days in November. (No, unfortunately, I can't take the baby Click here to enlarge )

I had better luck with the manual then electric so I used the Advent Isis pump. I did try the electric pump and used Madela... I think I have the names right, it's been a few years.

I have to agree on the Avant Isis. I had better luck with that one with my first born than I did using the hospital grade pump with my second. Part of it could have been the stress that I was under but still. Esp for the price, I don't think tha Isis can be beat. I don't recommend the Medela Harmony manual pump.

I loved my Aveda Purely Yours. Click here to enlarge

You can have it if you want it. You'll need to get new tubes and bottles and shit (I think), but it's a FABULOUS pump, I think Mel used one, too, and it retails for about $200. Click here to enlarge

It is Ameda and I adored my pump. It was wonderful and their customer service was the bomb Click here to enlarge

It sounds like you will just need a manual pump though. I have heard (never used) great things about the Avent Isis.

I still use my Medela PIS. It's OK. I had the pressures checked out to make sure it was still running at high efficiency.

I pumped quite a bit with a rented medical grade pump this go around, though, because I had to pump exclusively for a few weeks here and there.

Lime time.

Click here to enlarge with the Isis. Easy enough to use that I could pump on one side while feeding baby on the other, if necessary.

Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.

I used the Isis as well, but only for pumping for milk for cereal. I didn't have any problems with it.

I also rented a Lactina when we were having some issues, and had luck with that.

If you are going to be away for a few full days, I would check into renting a hospital grade pump. YOu will probably have to rent for a month, but it will only cost you about 30 bucks in most places.

I certainly wouldn't want to try to hand express that much , especially if yo uare going to try and build a supply to give to baby while you are away in addition to maintaining supply while you are gone.

I use a medela pump in style advanced for when I'm working because I can double pump then. I have good luck with it. I also have one of the little isis hand pumps and I really love it for use around the house if I'm just trying to pump a little bit to relieve my boobies or something. It's really easy and fast to use if you don't want to drag all the tubing and bottles for the electric pump out.

FTR, the purely yours is a closed system, so the tubes don't ever touch milk.
