milk supply is dropping

gabby is only nursing for a longer period of time in the a.m. and at night. During the day she is barely staying latched on for 5 min per side. My supply has gone down really fast. Do I take this as a way of weaning? She's also teething and a cranky bear these days. Do I try to increase my supply again in hopes that it will help keep her latched on? I think part of the problem is there isn't a whole lot there so she gets frustrated and doesn't want to stay latched. Do I try the dom again? Do I just let it go? I don't know what to do Click here to enlarge

how old is she? Is she also getting formula? if so is she taking in more formula? Or more solids?

I'm sorry, it seems like you just had her yesterday.

she's 9 months. She gets 1 to 2 bottles a day depending on how she's doing, how many wet diapers she's had etc. She eats 3 times a day with everyone and sometimes snack as well. She eats really well, drinks from a cup etc.

I don't know what to say...I hope it works out for ya. You were great help to me and out of the blue I was drowning my kid again lol. Will she take bottles from you? I can't get daniel to without a huge fight, but he will take them from anyone else. Guess that is what I get for always being the bottle!

I will keep you in my thoughts! You have kept it up for close to a year, which is much better than a lot of people even try to do. Maybe just nurse her those times you said she does good and use bottles other times. Would pumping help you out at all, I know I read that as a suggestion for increasing supply (although pumping barely works for me as it is!) Good luck! I feel bad that I don't have any real advice, especially after all the help I have gotten Click here to enlarge

Rae it will be ok, she will take a bottle. I'm just not ready for her to wean yet. I don't want to be a freaky deaky BFing person, and I need to let her do what she's going to do not what I want her to do. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing and not giving up or something.

It's almost unheard of for a child to self wean before a year. I mean, some babies will immediately prefer a bottle, but 9 month old don't tend to just up and quit nursing. She may be transitioning to more solids, or you may just be having a funky dip in supply due to any number of things (is it almost time for your period?)

some women notice a correlation in supply and the return of their periods, and then a dip at certain points in their cycle.
