Scared she might wean

Okay, so apparently I weaned as soon as I started food, though my mother wanted to feed me longer.

How common is that? I am having some, uh, emotional issues to say the least with dd starting solids in a few weeks. I don't want to do it, but she'll be six months on the 18th, she can sit by herself, she's teething, she has a pincer grasp, and she's lost her tongue thrust for the most part. She's become very good at taking breastmilk from a spoon (we give her a probiotic supp this way).

So I know it's probably time when she hits 6mo, even though I wanted to go longer. Its totally selfish, I know. Click here to enlarge

Are there any ways to make it less likely she might try to wean?

Dude, if it helps, Coop eats three meals a day and has no intention of letting his nursies go.

Just make sure you nurse, then offer the solid food. Don't stress it.

I agree with Scout. Nurse her first then give her the solids. Most babies still want to nurse at that age. Its still a comfort to them.

Reilly nursed to 4 years Click here to enlarge and Ben got his first solids at 4 months (the pediatrician said so, and I was obedient back then) but nursed to 10.5 months when I weaned him--he'd have continued.

I agree with nurse first, then solids.

Dd nursed to 26 month and we started solids somewhere between 5 and 6months. Ds nursed until 15 or 16 months and we started solids around 6 months. I think he weaned quicker because I had supply issues this time with pumping.

Lime time.
