Question

So I'm pregnant.
I can't seem to figure something out. Every baby book thinks I need to be a stay at home mom who nurses exclusively. I'm just not that. I want to work - and I'm all for nursing ... some ... So here's the question - Is it possible to nurse before work and at night and have the baby formula fed by the designated child care person?

For a little while. Your supply is likely to dry up nursing that infrequently, but not for everyone. Good luck!

I nursed on demand for the first 6 months, went back to work 1 day/week (but came home at lunch to nurse). When he started daycare (at a year) I nursed morning and night. They didn't want me coming at lunch because it might upset him. He's 20 months old and I still nurse once per day. I don't know how much milk I have but there is definitely some.

I think you'll need to pump at work. Just to keep your milk flowing at a good amount.

I have a job where I work 12 hour busy shifts 4 days a week. I like the idea of only needing to have childcare for 3 days a week for my baby. (My husband can keep the baby one of the 4 days I work. I'm just trying to figure out how to nurse and work at the same time. There is no way I can take breaks more than once a day. *scratching head*

I went back to work after 2 months and pumped for a year. By the very end, my pumping at work dropped to once a day and my milk supply obviously decreased. I was still feeding her in the a.m. before work and about three times at night when I got home. You do what you can and supplement as needed.

I think it is the law to be able to pump at work....I can pump whenever I want/need and they give me an empty office with covered windows.

Not in all states Smooth, in ND my boss didn't have to allow me to pump. She did, but didn't have too.
