Why is he doing that?

Booger has started a bad habit. As soon as he latches on he bites me and then he suckles just fine without any problems. He has quit biting me at the end of nursing, but now bites at the very beginning. WTF?

Is that normal? I personally hate it. I just about jump out of my skin everytime he does it.

The only time he dosen't bite me is in the night.

Anyone got suggestions?

Does he have new teeth? When my DS first has his front top and bottom teeth, he had to relearn how to latch. If that is the case, he will get the hang of it soon. He may also just be teething. Teething babies always seem to bite whatever comes near their mouth, so he may have the reactions of biting before realizing that it's boob = good stuff to drink. Click here to enlarge

Click here to enlarge w/ June. Sounds like he's just inadvertantly biting while he's getting latched on. Seems odd that he would intentionally bite every time he latches. Maybe change his angle when coming on to the breast ? Sounds painful either way, so I hope you get it figured out.

DD #2 was doing that for a while. It got to where I'd begin saying "no bite, no bite" as her mouth started moving forward to latch. She finally quit doing it. I swear though, she's done a lot more biting than my first dd did - wugh!

C does this too, but has cut back as he's gotten used to his teeth.
