Baby spit up or throw up, what's going on?

With Carter's sleep schedule, he goes to sleep at about 9:30, wakes at 4am to eat, wakes to eat at 7am or so, and wakes for the day around 10am. The weird thing is that he wants to nurse at 10 (lip smacking, coming at my face with his mouth open, eating his fist) and immediately unlatches and vomits it all back up.

Is his tummy too full? What the heck is going on? After he does this, he goes back to smiling and looking around cooing. He'll be 4 months on the 12th. Is he comfort nursing? I don't get it.

My dd did that for a while right around the same age. We tried two things and it stopped, but I'm not sure which one (or both?) did the trick. First, we determined that I had an overactive letdown, and we switched to nursing on one side per session. Second, due to severe food allergies which run in my family, I cut out all dairy. I reintroduced milk, cheese, and yogurt at about six months, and was very successful. She is now able to handle dairy without any problems.

Good luck to you, I know the projectile vomit is scary (and messy too!) Click here to enlarge

Hmmm, so he is only spitting up after the 10 o'clock feeding? Is that am or pm? Does he seem uncomfortable before he spits up? Are you doing this feeding in a different position than usual?

I think thats quite enough questions for one post Click here to enlarge
