I'd just like some suggested links to sort of correlate your claims. I don't fully believe that the earth is even round, so I'm totally hip to your jive.

I think we should lock all non-vaxxers in a closed room and open up a vial of smallpox.

Except that now you’re saying that people can only hold religious beliefs if they attend an actual church.

No, they can hold religious beliefs. They just can't use them to get their unvaccinated kids into school unless they belong to a faith community that will vouch for them.

Sorry, you’re saying that people can only hold valid religious beliefs if they belong to an actual church.

Otherwise, why would they need a faith community to vouch for them?

I think that at least providing proof that whatever religion you prescribe to ACTUALLY has a documented objection to vaccines is appropriate. Just saying we decided in our home that our religion of Internet woo rejects vaccines is not enough.

No, they could be valid beliefs, if by "valid" we mean people really believe in them, since little else makes sense when it come to religion.

Still doesn't get their kids into school without shots, just like sincerely believing that peace is better than war (without significant documentation) doesn't get a draftee out of the army.

And believing every fool thing Jenny McCarthy or someone on the Internet says is NOT a religious belief, even if you are sincere. While personal spiritual beliefs can exist in a vacuum, I suppose, religions themselves are faith communities. Even the new ones.

The flu shot is a crap shoot, like predicting who will make the playoffs next year. You might have a good idea and wager on those, but it is prediction based, not a guarantee against total flu protection.

And from part of an article I read 9/10 measles cases in San Diego were unvaxed.

I don't understand why the religious objection is such a sacred cow. We generally don't let people refuse medical care for their kids for that reason, so why do we let them put everyone else's kids at risk?

There are two Americas - separate, unequal, and no longer even acknowledging each other except on the barest cultural terms. In the one nation, new millionaires are minted every day. In the other, human beings no longer necessary to our economy, to our society, are being devalued and destroyed. -- David Simon

See, that seems reasonable to me. You’re welcome to subscribe to whatever religious beliefs you wish, but prove that those beliefs forbid vaccination.

Further requiring that a church or other community come forward to “prove” that someone actually subscribes to a particular religion before they can practice it (i.e.: refuse vaccinations based on those beliefs) or attend a public school is taking it too far, IMO.

I don’t really know that there is anything governments can do about non-vaxxers. You could remove all exemptions except medically necessary ones, but now you’re making it harder for kids to get an education because of the choices their parents make.

Education, nutrition and healthcare should be some of the easiest things to acquire.

If religious exemptions were rigorously enforced it would. Also some states have a philosophically opposed exemption-that one needs to go away. This is a huge catch all any nut can use to avoid vaccinations.
