Canadians, how did that loser get the gun?

In the school shooting yesterday, how did he get a weapon?

ďI donít know why we donít create some sort of system where we could train [Syrian refugees] to then go back to their own country and then fight for that country. Doesnít somebody have to stay in the Middle East and make the Middle East a better place to live?Ē

A Dene First Nation has many hunting rifles. It is a way of life and part of their culture from the beginning. It is their identity.

Do you guys have laws that will hold the parents responsible if the gun wasn't locked up? I don't know very much about Canadian gun laws other than what I have read here.

We have safe storage laws, but I'm not sure that a 17 to being able to get to a gun means that it wasn't stored safely.

The law is he needs a hunter safety course to use the weapon. But that is for my kids. He is First Nation. I don't know if that same law applies because of the different treaties.

But really, the law also says to not do what he did. The bigger issue is what was going on with this young man and how do we fix that.

One rumour floating around is that this young man was dealing with the affects of FAS.

I totally agree.

I have 2 adult kids with FAS. It is hard work to instill right from wrong in all kids. My kids have a strong set of values and we don't have guns. Moral: parents who suck raise kids who suck.

Love wins.

And you don't live in a northern community with drug and alcohol addiction. With a unemployment rate of 23%. You have resources and doctors and .... Everything. We are talking a six hour drive to the nearest large centre. You can't compare your life to theirs.
