Need carseat ideas

We need to move Ian out of his infant seat soon. I need a carseat for him that will fit; we have a car and need to fit 3 seats across the back. So, it can't be a big, wide seat. We have around $200 to spend. What are some of the better narrow seats? Britax seats are really big across, aren't they? The older two are in boosters now.

Sunshine Kids Radian is probably your best bet. It's the narrowest convertible on the market. It harnesses to 65 or 80 pounds depending on the model you buy. (I'd get the 65, it's a little cheaper and has the exact same harness heights.)

I love Britax, I am a Britax FOO' Click here to enlarge, but there's no way your're getting a Britax in there if you all ready have 2 seats.

Oh, and the Radian retails at 200, so that works nicely Click here to enlarge

I disagree Outnumbered. Rearfacing convertibles help a lot with space issues. Seriously. I bet Bliss could get a Marathon in between 2 boosters. Especially with the small footprint of it.

I can fit 3 seats across the back seat of our Focus wagon if one is rear facing, but it's tough to buckle the booster (if they were all harness seats it would be no problem).

I can fit in there: graco turbo booster (high back), an Evenflo ComfortTouch )5-pt harness) and then a Britax Roundabout (rear facing).

What are your other two seats?

I wanted to add that the base of the roundabout (which I think is the same width as the marathon, but I'm not sure) is not very wide in comparison to other seats. I think it's about 19.5 inches wide and most other convertible seats are about that or wider. And I think an infant seat is about 17.5" wide? So, its not much better.

The two boosters are high back turbo boosters.

I was thinking in terms of the fact that eventually the seat will have to go forward facing, no?

I have two Britaxes (rearfacing) in the backseat of my Hyundai Click here to enlarge Fe, and we couldn't get ANYTHING between them. There is about six inches of space back there.

It's a big car. A lincoln town car. I hate having a gas guzzling boat, but we needed the large trunk to fit my scooter. We comfortably fit the two booster seats and his infant seat right now. I just thought a car seat would be bigger than the infant seat. Maybe it isn't, I don't know. I will have to do some measuring.

Honestly, if you have a car that big and your other two seats are turbobooster, I think you'll be fine with a convertible seat. Some are really wide so just avoid those.

Do you have three shoulder belts or is there a lap belt in the middle?

i fit two boosters and a forward facing marathon across the back of my impala, fyi. not that you need a britax, but i think you would be able to fit one of the bigger convertibles in the back of a towncar, no problem.

I have this same situation. DD just hit 41 lbs in Dec so she's in a booster now. My son is 6 and in a booster.

I need to fit an infant between the 2.

I have 2 shoulder belts and a lap belt.

I have a latch loc infant seat. I don't know if it fits or not yet, I plan to try it this weekend. It's in storage right now.

If it doesn't fit I have to come up with something else.

I measured the space I have at 16". The base of the latch loc is 16.5.

My kids need to be able to reach the buckle release.

This is going to be interesting.

todolist...the biggest problem we have when fitting 3 across is being able to buckle the booster that the 6yo is in. We have to do it for him. Like I said earlier, it would be easier if they were all in harness seats. I'd install them once and be done with it, only having to buckle the harnesses.

You may want to look into a Sunshine Radian for at least one, if not both, of your kids. It's a very narrow seat (anyone know the actual width) and harnesses up to 65 pounds. I'm looking into it myself for my almost 5yo is is 40 pounds.

When I said both of your kids, I meant the older two. I realize you have 3.
