Tat, with regards to financial aid, full-time is considered 12 credit hours per semester or more. Part-time is at least 6 credit hours and less than 12 credit hours per semester. Less than 6 credit hours per semester does not qualify for even part-time. Click here to enlarge

This is easier: Click here to enlarge

1-5 cr.hr./sem. - nothing
6-11 cr.hr./sem. - part time
12+ cr.hr./sem. - full-time

Thank you, salty!!! That's exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find it anywhere. Click here to enlarge I applied for a Sallie Mae loan and I applied as full-time. However, I have 10 credits so I guess I'm only part-time. Oh well, they approved it so I guess I shouldn't worry. Click here to enlarge

My school does 3/4 time also.

6-9 is 1/2
9-11 is 3/4
anything 12 and over is full time.

Nah, I wouldn't worry about it either. I applied at full-time status, but am only part-time for this summer term. It's all going to get paid back to them, plus interest, anyway. Click here to enlarge

Congratulations! Click here to enlarge

I'm going to need to get a student loan as soon as I get my acceptance (pleaseohplease let that be this January Click here to enlarge). How easy was it? Did it take long (meaning days, weeks?)?

I filled out a FAFSA and I've been denied financial aid because I have a prior bachelor's degree so I'm assuming that means I need to do unsubsidized.

This whole financial aid confused me 15 years ago and still does now. Click here to enlarge

I have to go into the Fin Aid office and change my status.

I'm going 1/2 time right now. When I start up in the Fall I'll need to go in and tell them I'm full time again. In the Winter when I'm back down to 1/2 time I'll have to amend it then also.

If I was full time all the time I wouldn't have to inform them.

You might want to check with your school.

My school does it exactly like Todo's.

I was 3/4 time the first semester here and have been full-time every semester since except for summer.

Thanks for the congrats, Salty. Click here to enlarge

Turbo - I was pussyfooting around for weeks because I was afraid to be denied. I did some homework - I read threads on allnurses.com about some other students' experience with financial aid. It seemed that Sallie Mae was most likely to approve me. I don't have the best credit and that was why I was hesitant. Anyway, I only asked for $5000 and they approved me for up to $16,000 if I wanted it. Click here to enlarge I didn't take $16,000, I don't want to overdo it and 5 is all I really need. I got a pretty decent interest rate, too. They have a few different types of loans, I applied for a Tuition Answer loan.

It was VERY easy. I went to their website to apply. It was a short and sweet application. Within 5 seconds of submitting, I had my decision on the screen. Then I printed out the promissary note, signed it, and faxed it to them. The beautiful thing is that they send a check right to you and you take it from there. My check is on it's way.
