Did you take the basic skills test? Do you know how you did? Was it difficult? What was covered?

Yes, I took it. There were 3 portions: reading, math, and writing. The reading portion was really just common sense, I wouldn't worry about it. The writing part asked you to write an essay about something difficult that you've done or accomplished and how it helped you develop as a person. The math covered basic concepts like: multiplying fractions, finding volume, solving for x, using pie to find circumference, graphing, etc.

There were 42 questions for reading, 42 for math, and then the essay. I tried to figure out how many I could get wrong in each section, and they say the highest score is a 300 and you must score a 220 to pass. So I'm thinking you can get about 12 wrong in each section or so? It really isn't very difficult, but I would brush up on the math. I think you'll breeze right through it if you've take a math class recently. It was hard for me to remember all the rules, and I did study.

I imagine they have several versions of the same tests they give, so the next test probably isn't going to be exactly the same.

I bought the study guide, which does tell you everything that might be on the test, and if I passed (I find out Aug 8th) I can pass it along. The practice test in the book did very little to prepare me for the actual test, though, although in the book they do list all the concepts you need to know in order to pass. I also borrowed an SAT math prep book from the library.

Oh, and there were 1300 people there testing. Click here to enlarge They had it very organized, though, and it went very smooth. When you register, you get a number, and that determines which classroom and desk you sit at.

They give you the whole test and you can do whichever parts you wish first. They give you 4.5 hours to complete the test and I used all but 7 minutes of it. Click here to enlarge

I am definitely interested in the study guide. Did you get your results today? I tried again yesterday but registration still wasn't up yet. I am hoping it will be up in the next week or two. I didn't see anything saying when it opens up.
