Degrees that don't make money

I've had 3 different majors in 4 years, and I'm 32. My interests are World Religions (not so much the western ones), Womens Studies and History. My problem rests in the fact that really none of those interests make any sort of money unless you teach. I'm not a teacher, I just play one when I have to. I don't like the idea of teaching at a Jr. College or HS to a bunch of kids who don't really want to be there. I'm enrolling again the fall to take a Spanish class, History and Women and Religions. I was wondering if any of you are going for a degree that won't make much money but are doing it for the love of the subject?

I don't imagine my public service degree will make me much money, but I love the subject and since it includes stuff like "technologies" and "financial management," I'm hoping it will help me get a job. Click here to enlarge

Will the classes you are taking move you closer toward your degree? I am all for taking stuff for the love it, but I think it's a waste of money to take a bunch of classes that aren't fulfilling requirements.

My degree is in forestry. I don't think it'll make me a ton of money, but I'll get to play in the forest all day. Sounds pretty good to me.

I have a Master's Degree in History and I make money. I teach part-time but I also write/edit for academic publishers.

If you can be completely, 100% fluent in Spanish (or another major language) and English, and have a graduate degree in humanities, there are some very good publishing jobs out there for you.

I'm just taking courses that interest me this semester, it seemed like a better idea than just sitting out this semester. If I can pick a major and stay with it they might apply to it. The Spanish has been a necessity due to the area we have moved to, in order to communicate effectively with those around us. (rather than just smiling and nodding alot) I'll have to read up on the publishing opportunities, hubby was suggesting that I become an analyst of some sort.

Once I finish this master's degree, I fully intend on just taking classes that interest me- for no particular reason! I will be required to continue taking classes to keep my certification, so why not.
Religions classes, history classes, psychology. Another masters won't do me much good, and I have no intention on a phd, so it will be classes on a whim!

My sister has a Master's in Counseling and that is definately a love of job, not money. She is the main on site supervisor at a Club House in Metro Detroit and the money she makes is definitely now worth the crap she has to deal with. She loves it though. Click here to enlarge

Tapatalk is where the typos are at.
