I Don't Even Know Where To Start..

I WANT to quit. I know I do, but it's such a habit. Click here to enlarge I do it when I get on the phone, sit out back when the kids are playing out there etc.

My dh wants me to quit, and I mentioned it to my MIL, she brought me over a carton of cigs. Click here to enlarge

I've tried the patch, it didn't work. Does anyone have any tips on how I can prepare myself or even where to start? Thanks for listening if you've gotten this far.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I think I will try cutting in half, hopefully I can stick to that.

What has worked for me in the past is for two days, smoke like I usually do, but count how many I smoke, then come up with an average. Then start cutting out one cigarette a day. (don't ask me why I started again Click here to enlarge I honestly don't know.)

So, say you smoke 15 a day. Take 15 and put them in a pack and when you are done with them, that's all for the day. Ask someone you trust to hold the rest of them Click here to enlarge The next day, 14, and so on. If you have leftovers at the end of the day, you don't carry them over Click here to enlarge

I quit for a week and have resumed smoking as normal. Smoking sucks...I wish I had an answer to why it is so hard to quit.

Have you looked at the counters they have n the web? www.quitnet.com has a good one and I know some other use different ones
Just seeing the numbers after 24 hours can be an incentive and can become a bit addictive in itself. I still check on mine every month or so just to see how much money I've saved and how many cigarettes I haven't smoked.
Worth a try...

I think the first big step is setting a date. It makes it more of a reality than a distant goal. For me, it was like an appointment for my health and that of my children.

I'm very aware that children of smokers are much more likely to be smokers themselves. That was one of my biggest reasons for quitting. Make yourselves a list of your reasons for quitting. Picture your children smoking. It was one of the most powerful things for me.
