Day 1

I am struggling. I had my last cigarette last night around 9:00. I woke up today at 7:30 and have been wanting one ever since.

This is hard. HARD. Click here to enlarge Im terrified that I will put back on the weight I just lost, which would suck ass Click here to enlarge

Right now Im just trying to get through the next few minutes. I already told some people that "I Quit" so I feel like I cant go back on that, or Id be really embarassed.

I feel like screaming. This is HARD Click here to enlarge

You're going to be thinking about smoking for a while, just hang in there and don't do it. It only takes 3 days for all the nicotine to be out of your system, then you only have to deal with the brain part of it. You can do it! If you made it through one day, you can make it through 2, then 3, and before you know it you'll have been quit for a year.

Just try to keep busy and enjoy how clean your mouth is!

Remember that the first three days are the hardest, and once you get past that it will feel much easier.

One thing that really helped me were Lifesavers Wintogreen mints. I popped one in my mouth, and once my mouth got good and minty, I'd inhale deeply. It's almost like smoking a menthol. It was very satisfying. Click here to enlarge

You can do it! Click here to enlarge

That's fantastic! You should be very proud. And remember, never ever take even one drag. I quit for 4 years, through it all away with just one drag.

My quit day is Monday, August 28. My husband is quitting with me, so I'm hoping we will be successful. My mother has emphysema, my brother too. And my grandmother died from it. I can't be this selfish and put my children through what I went through with my grandmother and now what they will go through with their grandmother.

Click here to enlarge Mama!!! I was bartending the last two nights and totally thought that I would cave and have one... luckily it was to fucking cold to go outside even if I had wanted one (which I didn't). I love being smoke free!

Good for you FSW!! You wont ever regret quitting, but there is little doubt you would regret starting up again. Keep it up! Click here to enlarge

Sorry, just seeing this now. I quit cold turkey, its the only way I can do it. I set a date in my mind and that was it. I didnt want to wean myself because I think for me anyway, it would have dragged it out. I wanted cut and dry withdrawal and be done with it Click here to enlarge I do think quit aids are good for some people though, and support them if they help people quit.

I gained about 10 lbs over the last year, but I had been overweight to begin with Click here to enlarge So now instead of being an overweight smoker, I am an overweight ex smoker who can run 3.5 miles and is getting rid of the weight! Click here to enlarge Click here to enlarge

It is hard, though. I'm really, really depressed not smoking. I quit January 2.
