Quit blagh.

Day 1
haven't smoked today yet. Don't plan to. Just now getting irritable and hot. I will do this. Smoking is gross, will kill me and others around me, makes me stink like shit, and makes me short of breath.

0.25mg of Xanax helped a whole lot. Went for a walk around the block, which helped immensely. I will do this.

Go, Plucky! Don't try to run from cravings...when it hits, just be still, breath deep and slow, in through your nose, out through your mouth. Swear at it. Breath more. Swear more. Whatever it takes. You can do it!

I've been smoke free 30 weeks, 4 days, 20 hours, 19 minutes. Click here to enlarge

You know, there might not be another shoe. I smoked for more than 35 years (yes, I'm older than dirt) and every time I quit before, I was homicidal within hours of the last cigarette. This time? I have this theory that whatever they did to make cigarettes fire-safe also did something else to them. I had the most awful metallic salt taste in my mouth for quite awhile before I quit. Couldn't get rid of it no matter what I did. I finally realized it was the cigarettes.

When I quit, that awful taste went away and I was sooo glad for that. But I also wasn't all homicidal crazy...seriously, I wanted to kill anyone I came in contact with. I'd tried patches AND gum AND Zyban all at the same time. I tried Chantix and it didn't help. This time, nothing. I'd bought nicotine gum but only used a couple pieces before I realized I didn't need it. Most people had no idea I'd quit.

Maybe I'm just sensitive to the flame-proofing stuffs but it does seem like a lot of people are able to quit more easily. Hoping you're one! Go, Plucky!

I am so thrilled and I hate to admit it, but this is too easy. Click here to enlarge I would like to smoke, but it isn't making me nuts, crabby, or anything. If I want a cigarette, I just think of how awesome I am that I quit. Click here to enlarge

Went out with DH on Saturday night. Walked past a clutch of smokers on the way into Kroger (yes, we're that lame) and the smell had me literally gagging and horking. I had to run to the car and put my head between my knees to keep from barfing. Such an intense reaction, not sure if it's normal, or if I've just psyched myself up or something. We had planned to go watch people sing Karaoke at a bar, but quickly changed our minds after that. Click here to enlarge DH is still quit, too, he's using the patch and oddly it seems more difficult for him than me. :shrug

Yay, Plucky!! Y

eah, I've had that wow, puke, smoke reaction too. It's weird as hell because it used to be the smell of fresh smoke (not stale, eewww) would make me hungry for a smoke. Now, the only time I really get hit with a craving is when I see someone smoke in a movie. Seeing it without smelling it. Also for me, nicotine replacement just made me keep going through withdrawal. It was much easier to just go through it once and be done with it. It was also much easier to quit once I was able to quiet the panic..."Quitting won't kill me. Craving won't kill me. Ha, FUCK YOU, smoking!"

I am so happy for you, plucky!! I quit for 4 years once and the smell drove me crazy. I stupidly went back and forth several times. I need to quit once and for all.

I was the champion quitter. Click here to enlarge I got really good at it. Now that I have truly quit, the smell of cigarettes is just awful. Every time I think I may want one, I snif a smoker. Works for me every time. Click here to enlarge
