How would I know if I'm leaking fluid?

Ok, first of all, I feel totally stupid for even having to ask this. This is after all my third baby. But DAMMIT, I had zero complications with the girls and this one has just been so hard on me.

Last night I took a bath. I was standing at the mirrror after I had dried off - and I was DRIED OFF - I'm sure of that - washing my face, brushing my teeth, etc and all of a sudden I felt a little trickly down my leg. So of course I grabbed a towel and went to wipe it and I noticed that it was a cloudy clear fluid - it didn't look like urine or anything else.

Ok, call me a dummy if you want, but I blew it off and figured it was from my bath since I had just gotten out about ten minutes before. But then it happened again, and one more time before I went to bed.

I was up several times during the night and didn't notice it happening any more, but I feel damp down there - more than usual. There isn't any discharge like you sometimes see, although there was some thick yellow mucus on my tp at one point last night, and when I go right now, things just seem (sorry TMI) "wetter" down there. It does NOT feel like I've wet my pants the way you do sometimes after a cough or sneeze.

I'm a little concerned, but I swear the new OB already thinks I'm a paranoid freak and I don't want to call if all I did was lose a little bath water or something. On the other hand, I don't want to make a huge mistake.

I feel so silly asking all this, but at least I know you guys won't laugh at me or if you do, that I can take it. Click here to enlarge He did an internal yesterday and the baby was still high and I was still closed and thick but I know it can change.

Just give me some direction here. Please. Click here to enlarge

I would go in. They can do a simple test to see if it's amniotic fluid. How much longer do you have to go?

The internal could have dislogded some of your mucus plug and started a bit of a leak. Are you feeling any BH contractions at all? I'd get it checked if I were you. Click here to enlarge

Definitely having B/H but they aren't regular at all. A little backache too, but nothing that I haven't had for a few weeks now.

Oh, screw him. You're not a paranoid freak. I'd go in and get it checked too. This is my third too, only 18 months after my last, and there are times it feels like I've never done this before. Click here to enlarge

yeah, have them test it. The amniotic sac should still be intact, so even if the mucus plug is dislodged, no fluid should be leaking out. Of course, it could also be normal vaginal discharge, but you have no way of knowing without testing it.

Ya, I would get it checked. I leaked through both pg's but not amniotic fluid. We had no.idea what it was and I had to wear panty liners through both pg's. Click here to enlarge

I had to wear those Depends pads even after I had kids..until I had the hysterectomy.

I still need to have a bladder lift, but I really don't want the military hack doing it here..so I will wait until we get to Petaluma.

I'd get checked.

But you also could have sucked up a pocket of water into your coochie while bathing, only to have it release later. Not that anything like that has ever happened to me. Click here to enlarge

I called at 2:40 and I'm still waiting for a call back. There has definitely been a case of chronic damp panties around here today so at this point, better safe than sorry. If they tell me I'm peeing my pants, so be it.

Ok, apparently I have a date with a test and the monitor in OB. We'll see what they say.

I'm probably just peeing myself, but I guess you never know.

It was not amniotic fluid - just a false alarm. I'm already back home.

Thanks for all the input. Click here to enlarge
