I had my 18 week ultrasound yesterday...

Two hearts, two spines, two brains, four kidneys,...

TWO GIRLS!!!!!!!!! Dh and I are in shock. I didn't think anyone in his family made girls. He's the youngest of 3 boys and his brother has 3 boys.

Everything looked really healthy and the perinatologist was fantastic. He showed us all sorts of cool stuff that I've never heard about. One of them was clenching and unclenching her hands and he said that it's a sign of brain function - apparently babies that have issues can't unclench their hands at this stage. The other had hiccups and he said it's a sign of full oxygenation. Hypoxic babies don't hiccup.

His ultrasound room has a plasma TV mounted on the wall for the parents to watch on while he uses the machine. He wants me back in 5 weeks and then 2-3 weeks after that and it's all 3-d after this one. I had to resist telling him that I love him.

YAY! I am so glad to hear that! Especially the surprise about the girls! I was the first girl in like 101 years on my dad's side, so I know that it happens. Click here to enlarge

The u/s room sounds awesome, and I'm glad that he was able to show you a lot of stuff about brain function and all of that. I'm sure it was incredibly reassuring and exciting.

I had no idea I'd be so shocked about the gender. I just kind of assumed they were boys.

I stopped on the way home and bought two pink baby books. Click here to enlarge
