I can't believe I'm posting this already....but this baby is fabulously mellow and the house is soooooooo quiet that I'm getting bored so I had DH bring me the laptop!
Boo Bear was born this morning at 9:20 a.m., 8lbs 8oz, 20" long, with loads of black curly hair and dark blue eyes.
He is doing so well, that I am starting to obsessively worry that he hasn't nursed enough and that he hasn't had a wet diaper yet and just sleeps so deeply...
Even though I know both of those can be quite common in an infant that is not quite 12 hours old!
I only had a few hours of labor and several minutes of pushing. Labor was not bad at all this time - I talked, laughed, and joked through contractions right up until I started pushing. That's new for me - usually by the time I'm 5 centimeters I'm off in la-la land to get through it and can barely walk. I took the Black Cohosh every hour during labor once I was in active labor too, and maybe that was it - I've read that Black Cohosh is used to reduce pain in labor.
Pushing sucked. Big time. Like usual. I could've probably had him out in just a few pushes, except I was being a big baby about and fighting it.
Oh, and hands and knees was not a good pushing position for me.
Once I flipped to my back/side I could push so much better - and maybe that's exactly why I've always ended up on my back/side for pushing.
Don't know if it was seeing that induction scheduled, the Black Cohosh I took yesterday, or hubby's prostaglandins
- but whichever it was, I'm just grateful it's over and done with and I'm not actually going to be pregnant forever!
I feel great. I haven't even really slept today (cat naps here and there) because I actually had a full night's sleep last night instead of laboring all night long like with the other three. And labor was not exhausting, so I barely feel like I'm "recovering" from anything.
Oh, and we are still deciding on a name. Right now it's an even race between Sullivan Jack and Sawyer Reed (both go equally well with our last name, and neither one strikes us as more fitting than the other for this boy).
