22 week ultrasound today

Do we have a nail biting smiley? Click here to enlarge I'm so nervous. Four hours left....

The good news is that I finally managed to gain five pounds since my last appt a month ago, which brings me up to a gain of two for the pregnancy so far. My doctor mentioned looking really closely at how big the fetus is at this point to make sure that he/she looks to be the appropriate size.

What else will they look at? Basically everything? Click here to enlarge The dr is going all out and doing 2D transabdominal, 3d, and transvag for cervical length. Should be a very entertaining appointment if nothing else.... Click here to enlarge

Click here to enlarge They'll take measurements of baby's arms, legs, head, and abdomen to get an idea of how big he/she is. They'll also take a look at the brain, heart, placenta, cervix, etc. 3d is very cool if baby cooperates. Since it doesn't go through bone it can sometimes be hard to get a good pic of the face.

Good luck. Can't wait to see pics!!

If they do a 3D, don't be surprised if the picture is not cute since a 22 week fetus doesn't have a lot of fat yet. I have a lot of great pictures from mine though, when I look at them now I can totally see the son I have now in them. Click here to enlarge

Have fun!

All went really, really well! Baby looks great and measures only a day behind, which he/she has for a while, so that's fine by me. No news on the sex- yay! Click here to enlarge Everything looks fabulous. No issues with the baby, and my cervix is a strong 41.5mm. My placenta is apparently as high as it can get, and the baby actually did look pretty cute and a little chubby. Click here to enlarge

He's in the vertex position right now, and we're sort of hoping he gets stuck there. There's enough fluid right now to BARELY get him to flip over, so we're all hoping he'll run out of space while he's vertex and not go breech.

Pictures to come- my scanner is cranky. Click here to enlarge

I have cervical length envy. Click here to enlarge

How ridiculous is that?

Congrats!

I hope mine DOES move--it feels like he is punching or kicking me in the cervix every time he moves!

Well here is what happened. She checked the sex real quick and we didn't look away because, honestly, you can't really *see* anything in those things unless you're directed.

So I thought I MAY have seen a penis very briefly, but it could have been cord. Jess thought it was a girl, the doctor who came in later said "she" at one point, but they all have their gender preferences, so it was probably just a thing, and I feel like it might be a boy.

So I would say that the mystery is still intact. Click here to enlarge
