Pregnancy Weight Gain

In reading some of the other threads it seems that people generally put on the same amount of weight in subsequent pregnancies. My OB told me you typically gain less with the 2nd, etc. I was just curious.

Did you gain more, less, or the same? Feel free to elaborate.

Wow scout, way to go!

I gained 55 with Wyatt, 50 so far with this one (think I'll stay here since I only have a few more days). I said I gained the same both times in the poll though because I started at a lower weight the first time.

Thanks! I really made an effort with the last pregnancy not to gain if I could. I still haven't lost all that I should have from the first pregnancy, either, in fairness.

14, 17, and 25

They weighed 8 lbs 13 oz, 8 lbs 8 oz, and 9 lbs 14 oz.

I weighed the most going into the first, and the least going into the second.

I nursed through the second pregnancy.

I did taekwondo for most of the third, but also kept getting sick.

I threw up the whole pregnancy, all three pregnancies.

I gained over 50 with my first. Click here to enlarge It was awful. I think it was about 55 to 60 lbs actually.

With my second I think I gained about 40-45.

So far with this one I have gained 10 lbs and I am at approx 22 weeks. So hopefully I wont gain nearly as much.

But interestingly, I was also the skinniest when I got pregnant with #1 and I was the heaviest when I got pregnant this time, so maybe my starting weight has something to do with it. Does that make sense?

I said more but I'm only 16 weeks and gained just under 4lbs so far. But at this point I had gained much more before.

My other 2 I gained about 50-60lbs. But I also started out at 120lbs. This time I'm starting out at 160 Click here to enlarge

My last two, I gained 40 lbs. I mean, I lost at first, and the 40 lbs was from the lowest I got. With dd1, that 40 pounds was entirely from weeks 22 to 42! It was still the right amount though, because it fell right off within the first month post partum.

This time, I'm at about 21 weeks, and I think I've gained 10 so far.

I gained 80 with Ian. About 20 of those were swelling. The swelling was horrible, I had pitting edema in my legs. He was almost 10 pounds.

I gained 55 with Rosie and she was 8 pounds.

first pregnancy: gained 20ish
2nd: i gained WAY TOO MUCH
3rd: gained 30ish
4th: lost about 10 pounds

The difference for me was with my 4th I was determined not to have another sick and miserable pregnancy, so i walked and walked and walked. I didn't use pregnancy as an excuse to eat ice cream every night , and just took care of myself. it helped immensely.

#1- 60lbs
#2- 40lbs
#3- 45lbs
#4- 50lbs
#5- 60lbs

I gain a lot, but lose almost all of it very quickly. Too bad for me I seem to hang on to about 5lbs from each pregnancy so I started #5 roughly 25lbs away from where I would have ideally weighed. Click here to enlarge

#1: 60ish? baby was 8.1
#2: 40ish? baby was 8.7
#3: 50ish? baby was 9.5

I stopped counting. I started out slightly underweight with all three pregnancies and even when I have a healthy diet I still pack on the weight. I lose it all quickly though. I swear my body holds onto every morsel of food when I am pregnant. It's the only time I stress about my weight.

I gained #34 with #1 and I'm up to 30 already with #2. I started this pregnancy weight less than last time but my body is going back to the previous pregnancy's weights. I've been comparing journals and I noticed my weights are the same at certain weeks. I'm hoping to stay under 40 Click here to enlarge

#1: 40lbs
#2: 40lbs
#3: something like 30-35lbs
#4: about 30lbs again.

The last 2 were each almost a month early, and I was 5 pounds or so heavier when I started out with them.
