I can't believe it

Found out I was pregnant yesterday. This was a totally unplanned surprise. DH had a vasectomy in July and never went back to get a check, I thought he did in October I was wrong. We just got rid of all our baby stuff to pass on to my brother and his wife who also just found out that they are pregnant with their first. I don't even know how we're going to tell our families after we've been very clear that we were done. I'm curious to see how long we can keep it a secret.

Since finding out I have felt nauseous, dizzy, and tired. My breasts feel as if they have been used as punching bags.

Sorry to be so negative hopefully soon I will be over the moon.

melissa, I was in almost the exact same boat 9 months ago. I'm 40, baby stuff was all given away, dh was asking around to find a dr. to get snipped and we had a birth control fail. We were blindsided and it was very hard to wrap our heads around...there was a lot of ambivalence on my part for most of the pregnancy for many different reasons. Now we have a wonderful little new kid in our family and we are absolutely in love with him...but it was a huge adjustment emotionally, mentally and physically to make.

It's okay to have those negative feelings.

They aren't bad thoughts. They are honest thoughts. It's ok.

Give it a few weeks for the shock to settle down and I am sure you will be ecstatic.

I got pregnant after my husband's vasectomy so I know exactly how you feel and where you are coming from.

When I found out I spent the first few weeks sobbing hysterically and thinking I would just die if I found out I was having another set of twins.

I wasn't really "over the moon" throughout the pregnancy but I came out alright and I'm pretty happy with the end result. It takes a really long time for the shock to wear off though.

Congrats though. Click here to enlarge

Thank you for the kind words.

It's been a weird weekend trying to keep everything the same. We aren't planning on telling anyone, I got pregnant a few years ago expectantly(the reason for the vasectomy) and I lost it breaking everyone's hearts so I think we'll wait and see.

Wow these stories scare the shit out of me. Dh got snipped when I was pregnant with our last one. He did get checked and his swimmers were negative...but still. Its scaring the pants off of me.

Our last was a really BIGGGGGG surprise as I was on the pill. I had given all my baby stuff away as well as my maternity clothes 2 weeks prior to finding out. I won't lie....I was devastated when I found out. It took me a good 6 months to come to terms with it. But now...I can't imagine my life without my little redhead. Melissa, if DH had been snipped, we had given all of our baby stuff away and had put ourselves in a mental place of "we're done" then I got pregnant I'd be in shock too. It's ok to feel that way and I hope everything works out!
