Tylenol and/or narcotics do nothing for headaches. If you usually have some caffeine and have been without for a few days it could be that. When I woke up from the appendectomy I had a pounding headache and nothing made it better until I had a hissy and demanded a Pepsi. Click here to enlarge

Stay cooking, baby.

I thought you couldn't take oxy when you were having liver function issues as well.

I'm just taking what they are giving me. When I told them I had a headache they offered oxy first, then tylenol. (oxy without the tylenol).

And this isn't caffeine related. How I wish it was. Click here to enlarge

I've been able to push off the meds to 5 or 6 hours, but when I say it hurts, they come with the meds. Current nurse said she wants to know everything that hurts, stings, is fuzzy, blurry, cold, hot, sting-y etc. Apparently each sensation has it's own list of things that it could be related to.

Just saw a doc a few minutes ago and she said that they have never been so confused by such a "cut and dry case of HELLP before". She's never seen a woman bounce back, let alone maintain such good numbers, for so long. Everyone seems to be waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I asked her when they would consider letting me go home, if my numbers and stats all stayed the same. She said they would reassess me on Monday. But that it's never happened before. As much as I love being a medical mystery, I would love for them to figure out how to treat me so that this doesn't happen if I get home while still being pregnant.

Being stuck here is not fun. Bedrest is not restful.

Until then I am still being drawn every 12 hours, my next u/s is on Saturday, and I'm bored out of my skull.

Dh went home tonight to spend some time with ds. Ds called me a little while ago, and when I picked up he said "Mama! I miss you! I want to sleep in your bed." When I said he could, he said he didn't want to sleep there without me.

oh, I hear ya! That was the worst thing about being stuck in the hospital waiting. You should get some of the staff to pose with you and do a shout out to sybermoms, that might be fun! Just write "Wazzup Sybermoms!" on a piece of paper and get a group picture, it would be a good one for the baby's memory book too.

You would think, but consider how often doctors prescribe a medications a particular patient is allergic to, despite writing the orders in files that generally have a large orange sticker on them with ALLERGIES plainly displayed on the front. Quite often, and that's just one common sense breakdown I can think of off the top of my head.

It is in everyone's best interest to continually ask their providers questions about their care, treatment, and medications. I don't think Yummy is unreasonable for bringing it up, it would allow Jennyjen to advocate for herself better. It's kind of a no-brainer that since Tylenol and Oxy are metabolized in the liver, to go, "Hey, doc, are you sure you want to give this to me since my liver enzymes are whacked?" I see your point now.

It is sad that a bunch of SM's are reminding her to ask the doctors about the medicine that they are giving her in the hospital. This world sucks sometimes.

My husband was in the hospital for 6 days in December and at one point a nurse misread his insulin dosage instructions. Gave him too much insulin and his blood sugar dropped down to 43. It happens. You should always be checking.
