Henry's Birth Story
 

Since I am alone and bored :lol - partial C&P:

Well, that was a surprise :lol. I was scheduled for a section this morning at 7:30. I felt weird all day yesterday and starting having regular contractions about 2:30 pm. We went to bed and I woke up about 11:30 with them really on top of each other and bloody show. They were about 2-3 minutes apart in the car, and when I got to L&D, I was between 4-5.

Contractions fucking hurt. :wtf

I had to wait a bit for an OR to open up, and when I sat up to get my spinal my water broke. She went ahead with the section and while she noted that I had minimum scar tissue, she said I had been laboring hard (duh) and my uterus was paper thin. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it sounds DRAMATIC, so I'm repeating it. Henry was born at 1:58 am, and weighed 7 lb 3 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. He has a head full of dark hair and looks just like his sisters. He is my smallest baby by a pound and a half, but he looks like a widdle chub. :lol

He is in the NICU with pneumothorax (where he has little air pockets between his lungs and chest wall, which prevents his lungs from expanding all the way). I didn't get to hold him until mid day today, when I had my cath taken out and was able to go down and nurse him, which I'll continue to do every few hours until he's up with me. They have taken him out of the oxygen hood and after the feeding we just did, they're taking out the IVs. They'll do another chest x ray in the morning, and then they feel pretty confident he'll be up with me tomorrow. He is nursing well and is such a sweet baby.

I have to say that even though he has had this issue, it is so relatively minor and I am incredibly thankful. Spending time in the NICU has really been emotional, and I have such admiration for the strength of the families of those babies who are seriously ill.

We are happy and grateful and I can't wait for his sisters to meet him. :love

Oh stinky I'm sorry he is on nicu. It is hard no matter how long they are there. I love his name. It was my boy name when pg w Claudia.

And sorry you had to do some actual painful laboring. :lol Contractions do indeed hurt.

I'm so excited for you. Labor does suck. I never missed it with my repeat c-sections. :lol

Oh, geez! I just saw the picture on the ME and posted my congratulations there. Sounds scary, but like he is doing really, really well. And you know he certainly was fully cooked! :lol :love Congratulations, again.

I love the woman's narrative of a birth story. I wish I had a birth story from when dd was born, so much of it is gone now that I will never remember. :lol

We got to come home yesterday afternoon, and he is doing great! :love The sisters can't keep their hands off him. :lol
