Dental Work?

I have an appointment for a couple of fillings that was scheduled before I knew I was pregnant. I will ask my dentist as well, but is it usually all right to go ahead with the fillings? I don't remember needing any dental work with my older 2, although that was a while ago, so the brain could just be fuzzy. Thanks.

I don't know about fillings but I had a cleaning when I was about 8 weeks in September. They scheduled me for another cleaning at the beginning of April and said that as long as I was OK with doing it when I was pregnant, that they didn't have a problem with it. I've had to cancel the appointment though, because of being on bedrest.

Send a message via Yahoo to Yummy!
I'm sure if you called your dentist and/or your OB their office could answer that kind of question over the phone.

I broke a tooth recently and I saw my dentist yesterday and he said "I will not do anything during the first trimester, that's when the organs are developing". I think he would do emerg stuff later, but he just told me to have the baby and then come back for my filling and to keep it very clean in the meantime. I have a cleaning booked in a couple of months. Cleanings are fine as far as I know.

I shouldn't say he refused to do "anything". He did clean the area and put in a temporary filling (which fell out the same day). He meant no pain relief and no fillings and warned me the temp filling might not hold.

When I was pregnant before that dentist put a sealant on a damaged filling and told me to come back when I was no longer pregnant to get my filling fixed.
