A good second ultrasound!

I miscarried 4 times in a row, with the most recent two losses being in March and May of this year. My second and 4th m/c were blighted ova, but the other two happened after there would have been cardiac activity - between 8 and 9 weeks. Both of those were missed m/c that weren't caught until a couple weeks later.

I had seen the heartbeat (nice and strong) at 6 weeks 6 days, but it really wasn't a huge reassurance because of my history. I went in for a repeat this morning, and baby was measuring exactly 8 weeks 6 days (where I am based on LMP) and had a HR of 167. All looks well so far. The OB seems to think we're going to make it this time, thanks to Lovenox and progesterone!

I go for the labs next Wednesday and the actual first OB appt the following Thursday - I don't have another ultrasound scheduled at this point, but she said I can call her any time I'm worried about anything. If I start freaking before I see her again, I'm going to tell her I NEED another one. LOL In a few weeks I should be far enough along that I can run up to OB when I'm working and have them use the doppler to find the heartbeat. That was the doc's suggestion - funny how I'd already thought of that. LOL

Twelve weeks sounds about right, Yummy. I'm pretty sure I was able to hear it with Perry and Sydney around 10 - 11 weeks, but I'm much fluffier now than I was back then, so 12 weeks is probably about it.

So now I'm wigging out b/c I don't go back to see the doc until the 14th (I go in for labs on the 29th of this month) and that isn't ultrasound day. I'm hoping since I'll be 12 weeks then, we'll be able to hear the HB on doppler. Damn, I hate not being able to see inside my uterus all the time.

I totally wished I had a window to peep in there. Click here to enlarge I had a few losses and then heavy first trimester bleeding and yeah I was a mess. Once I started feeling movement every day around 16-17 weeks I felt soooo much better.

Why don't you just ask for a peace-of-mind ultrasound in about 2 weeks? Then they'll hear the heartbeat by 12, 13 weeks.

In 3 weeks I'll be 12 weeks. If I see the midwife walking around the office on Wednesday when I go in for my lab work (the OB will be in surgery - take note: my baby will be born on a Wednesday Click here to enlarge) then I might ask her to sneak me back for an ultrasound.

My supervisor went up and stole the doppler from L&D for a while last night, and searched for the HB since I had a really really full bladder. All we were able to hear was my blood flowing to the placenta though. She thought she heard baby really quietly a few times, but was never able to lock in on it. We're definitely going to try again next week.

if your placenta is in front you are going ot have trouble hearing it at 9 weeks i would imagine.

Well there's that, and there's the fact that I've got extra meat around the middle. Click here to enlarge We just tried on a whim b/c we had access to the doppler and I didn't have anything better to do. I knew better than to get upset over not hearing anything, but it would have been nice.

do you know where your placenta is? I am glad I have a posterior placenta this time because not only was I able to hear the heartbeat sooner, I felt the baby moving early. All of these things add up to some peace of mind.

I really don't know where it's positioned in my uterus, other than it seems to be more on the right. As far as anterior or posterior, no one has mentioned that to me, and obviously the doppler can't tell me. Click here to enlarge
