I haven't posted here in a long time but I have some progress to report...
I've lost about 22 lbs this summer! I've lost almost 5 inches from my hips, 3.5 inches from my waist and have gone down 2 pant sizes. I went from a size 18 to a 14 - what I was wearing before I became pregnant with baby #3 in 2004. But the best part was having to buy a smaller bra! It had been a year since DD was weaned but I hadn't lost any of my nursing boobage until this summer. I still have about 10-15 lbs to go to reach my goal weight but I know it's reachable now.
Between getting a dog and having a late August deadline for a videotaping of an internet continuing education lecture for Abbott Animal Health that will be available for every veterinarian in the country to watch, I had to lose some weight. I hope to lose another couple of pounds before the taping. I was hoping to be a few more pounds ahead before now, but I'm pleased with my results.
I've done it by cutting back on my calories and eating good carbs and lots of lean protein. Having a dog got me out moving. I started the summer by walking a mile or two in the evening. Gradually, I now walk about 3.5 miles every evening - pretty good considering it's about 100 degrees in central Texas every evening when I walk. Since mid-July, I now get up VERY early to get in a 1.5 - 2 run/walk workout (4 am). I can now run about a mile without stopping for a walk/catch my breath interval. I hope to be able to work up to running 3 miles over the next few months so I can enter a 5K run- something I never thought I'd ever think I could do.
Off to find the running forum I saw mentioned in another thread.
