How do you keep relating to your teenage son as they get older?

My son is 14 now and the older he gets the more I worry whether a male influence is important or not and the more any common interest we shared seems to diminish.

How do other mothers of teenage boys handle this?

Thanks

I'm not a single mom anymore, but I do have a boy approaching teenagerdom.

I've found that the best way to deal with him, no matter what the subject matter, is to give him a sandwich. Click here to enlarge

Thats something I have been wondering. Luckly ds1's father is in the picture so he has that role model there. But ds2 doesn't. I keep thinking about the male influence in his life and I know my boys aren't teenagers but I wouldn't mind getting ideas early on!
