Murphy's Law of Cooking

The dinner you spend lots of time, energy and money on never turns out as good as the cheap, easy "sounds like shit" concoction that you throw together and will never in a bazillion years be able to recreate. :lmao

I made some bean soup on Sunday for dinner Monday night. Being in somewhat of a "I don't give a fuck if anyone likes it" mood, I soaked and cooked a half bag of those mixed beans, then threw in some dehydrated onion, carrot slices, and a quart of turkey broth, and simmered it for an hour or two. (Who can remember?) After the beans were tender I dumped in a half quart of canned tomatoes (with juice) that was rattling around in the fridge and some frozen ham chunks leftover from Christmas and shoved it all into the fridge to re-heat for Monday's late after gymnastics dinner. It should have been 'Meh'. It was fabulous. :lmao Maybe it was the homemade turkey stock, which I'd had in the freezer since Thanksgiving?! Who knows? It was really good. Even the kid who's decided she doesn't like soup gobbled it up. :lol
