On the corner
We left AZ this morning and headed east. We gassed up in Winslow, Arizona and there is a corner where they have a statue of a guy standing on a corner with a flat bed Ford on the curb. (If you are not old google "Takin it Easy" lyrics) We were on more of a curve on exit 234 in BFE, NM when Capital One told me there was a suspicious charge on my credit card. I thought my wanderlust had triggered fraud flags to spring willy nilly, but this was an odd charge I did not make. So they canceled my card between Moriarty and Sa.nta Rosa New Mexico. I use the card for hotel rooms. Luckily my debit card works, at least with payment. Upon arrival to Amarillo we blended into rush hour traffic and heard a strange screech at a corner intersection. There was a prairie dog, curbside, standing up near his hole.

If you ever need a hotel room in Amarillo, stay at the Holiday Inn Express near the medical center. It looks like a high end hotel, has a flat screen in the bathroom, and is under $100 a night. Simply amazing.Posted 08-07-2013 at 04:55 AM by turkeyjoe
