    Alison Weir writes two kinds of history. Biographical and Historical fiction based on fact. Both are very very good. She is one of my favorite authors for this subject.

    Harlot, you can read "The Cat Who Went to Heaven" in a couple of hours. It's beautiful, in many ways, even if it is totally bogus in terms of cultural or historical accuracy.
