DaisyDrunk We've had IT consultants ask the same thing. Another time, one department sent a mass mail out to external contacts (tens of thousands of messages) through the wrong mail server and it was causing major delays in message delivery. An IT guy from another section wanted to know why we didn't send a mass mail to tell users that there would be delays in message delivery.

On Monday we had an email outage at work, we couldn't send or receive email for a few hours. My coworker who supports the email program was asked by my manager why he didn't send an email to notify the help desk that there was an email outage.
