Harlot | I completely agree with everything said. Try the jounaling. Look for the triggers and take it one day at a time. You can do this. I felt the same way at one point, and it's now been almost 11 months. |

KAR is so right on with this. You have to want to do this for yourself in order for you to succeed. We all know how much your children mean to you and how strongly your desire is to quit for them. But the bottom line is that if YOU don't want to quit for yourself, it's not going to work. So, definitely keep writing your thoughts and feelings down, because I agree that it will help you to recognize patterns in why you smoke. We are here to support you through all of this, so just hang in there. |

Oh, honey, if I can do this, you can do this. I loved smoking. I told myself that if I could just keep my kids from seeing me do it, then it wouldn't be so bad. My friend lost his mother last year to lung cancer. She was such a cool mom, the kind I want to be. But I don't want to die while my daughter (if I had one) is pregnant and my daughter-in-law is also pregnant. I want to be here for my children to have children. I especially don't want to NOT be here because of something that I could have totally prevented. You CAN do it, and you WILL do it. Maybe not right this minute, but you'll pick a quit date, prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for it, and you'll do it. I know you can and we're all here for you when you do. |

You can do this, but you have to want to do this for yourself. You also I have to realize that you are letting an addiction run your life. One thing that used to piss me off about when I smoked is that I allowed it to rule me. It's a mindset. I agree with the journaling. Do it before you smoke a cigarette. If you are trying to quit cold turkey, that can me one of the most hardest things to do and really kind of sets you up for failure in so many ways. But you can do this. |

YES YOU CAN!!! Try a different coping strategy. Instead of lighting a cigarette when you read, have a bowl of raisins beside you or apples or something. You CAN do it though. I promise you |

Ugh I can't do this! I bow to every little pressure and have a cig. My problem is I know I'm not yet ready to quit for myself. I wanna quit so the boys don't see mommy smoking and to make my parents proud of me....but personally just me, I still wanna smoke. I like smoking damnit. I wake up late, shit have a cig and I'll calm down. Teacher is insane, have a smoke. People are being bitch at work, have a smoke. I just bought a new book, go have a bunch of smokes. I wanna quit but I don't want to, it just makes it too damn easy to cave. I have cut back, but no where near where I wanna be. |
