Do you think I should talk to the family or just her? I know how sensitive I used to be towards non-smokers before I quit. And they kind of get defensive when I talk to them about it. (after all I'm not a true smoker anymore)

Tell her just what you posted here.
Honesty is important.

My Tween and Cigarettes
I'm a newbie to the site, and I wasn't sure where to post this but I wanted to ask your advice on something. I have an 8 yr old daughter named Lola. While both me and her father used to be smokers we quit before she was born. Many of the people on her dad's side of the family still smoke. She spends a lot of time with them, especially with her female cousins, one of whom I know is a smoker (the cousin's parents know she smokes and don't discourage it even though she is only 16) Her cousin is a great girl and I don't want to discourage her from spending time with her family, but I have a real problem with my child being influenced by smokers. What should I do? I don't think they are bad people for smoking (heck I used to be a smoker) but I'm just not sure what to do here.
