LulaFortune Ok cool. The few times I got a clogged duct was when DS wasn't eating more than I was producing and my breast wouldn't empty (at least that's when it seemed to happen). It hurt like hell and I just wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen since I'm still producing but he's not eating anymore. Thanks.

Nodakbabe Me either. DS has now weaned completely off my right breast, and that was my "bad" one in the early months, but no clogged ducts or anything now, and he hasn't nursed off of it in nearly a month.

With my 6yo, I could still produce drops of milk almost a year after he weaned. Just so you know.

terra It can take months, sometimes even longer than a year, to completely stop producing. You can bind or use cold cabbage leaves to speed up the process. I never had an issue with clogged ducts or engorgement during the naturally weaning process.

Post-breastaurant question

DS quit his last middle of the night nursing sessions (he was only waking once or twice at most to suck for two minutes to fall back to sleep). So I'm a little sad we're done but I'm proud that we both made it to 15.5 months and he weaned all on his own.

My question is: it's been a week since he last nursed but while they aren't engorged, my boobs do still feel a little heavy. How long does it take to dry up and is there anything I should be concerned about in the drying up process (like a clogged duct...)

Thanks.
